Follow the steps in the Blog posting reference make sure to write down all passwords and website information. You will be handing it in.
Step 2- Create your first post describing the footprint you made to introduce yourself to the class. Describe the project as if you were sharing it with another educator on how to create it for their classroom. Explain an extension activity that you could use with this lesson. Some examples are what are other ideas to get to know your students, how could you integrate it with another subject matter?
Step 3 -
Photograph your Footprint with a digital camera, (make sure your photograph is in focus and fills the frame) and upload the image to the post

Also Read Chapter 3 in your textbook and comment on the following statement for Journal #3 due Friday Sept 21:
Do you recall a particular teacher of yours who had a special quality? In your post describe that quality. Recall other teachers, both skilled and less skilled in classroom management techniques and interpersonal skills. Describe what made their techniques effective, or not effective. Please don't include any names or locations of the teachers in the post.

One of my favorite teachers was passionate about her subject matter and did a fantastic job of relating it to her students. We were expected to read a lot of material out of class, but this allowed us to have in-depth discussions in class. She always had a smile on her face and took time out of her busy schedule to meet with each student once a semester.
Incorporating different teaching techniques, such as stations, has been effective. Preaching in front of the classroom is least effective.

ReplyDeleteThe most influential teacher I had was beyond passionate about her job. She tried everything possible to make her subject not only fun, but interesting. She was very adamantly when she taught, and chose lessons that were very interactive, not just academic in nature. She wanted to make sure we not only understood the subject matter, but took interest with it too. An example would be when we had to read Romeo and Juliet. Instead of having us just read the old English, she had us re-write it in out own words, and then chose our favorite part of the book to act out in a five minute video she recorded. It helped with the harder words, and gave us something to look forward to (costumes and all).
As for an example of a not so effective teacher, I had a teacher who did nothing but stand at the bored all day, lecturing. He talked at us, not to us. He never asked questions, and tended to look annoyed when he was asked a question. He made it very intimidating to ask, and many of the students didn't do very well because of it. Also, another teacher did all her lecturing from her desk, and used a laser pointer to point at lecture notes she had written on the board. She told us to read, and do work, while she flipped through magazines. These two were pretty ineffective. I felt I learned very little from them.

My favorite teachers were the ones who could make me laugh! I think the teacher I loved the most was my 5th grade teacher. She was kind, patient, and very funny. Because I her, I believe that once a teacher has control of his/her classroom, they should reward their class for behaving by making things fun and inserting applicable jokes whenever possible. Her technique was effective because students wanted to have fun, but quickly realized that they had to earn it. Boring assignments were assigned when we were misbehaving and fun assignments were assigned when we were good. It was that simple.

My first grade teacher was amazing and is still my favorite teacher! She never got mad, her patients in the classroom were beyond belief. She has a way of getting students to do their work without showing any frustration or anger. I hope my patients are half of that when I enter a classroom. She was also will to let us have a good time, most of the time we were learning and didn't even realize it because we thought we were playing a game or just being silly. I think this is very important because its easier to get children to learn when they are focused but kids, especially young ones, cant focus that long but if they are playing games and having fun the learning is much easier. When I am working on things for lessons now I often ask myself how would my 1st grade teacher teach this lesson or handle a situation. I firmly believe she is great teacher and even after teaching for over 25 years she still has the same passion and love for the job!

I remember my Kindergarten teacher who did a good at job at drawing different animals or other small things. Each morning she would draw thins as we would check the weather and see what day of the week it was. I really loved how she did different things in her classroom from having an igloo made of milk jugs and even a full grocery store that we could play with. I think she really inspired me and gave me lots of ideas. My teacher would also help make things fun at this age kids will love anything you do.
I think my favorite teacher would have to be my junior year history teacher. He was always so interactive with us and it was never just a lecture. Even in the tests, there would be some random answer on the multiple choice.
ReplyDeleteOne of the teachers i could not stand would be the one I had for chemistry. He taught the class like it was a college one and I did not do well at all. I ended up switching to P.E. after the first semester.

I would say my favorite teacher would have to be my high school math teacher. She taught the math class in a strict but fun way she would break everything so it seemed easier. She followed her schedule pretty well and she would never really favor kids in her class. If you showed up and would try your hardest and asked questions when you did not know she would help you out but if you just did the work and showed up whenever you wanted she would help you but she would not really feel sorry that you did not know what you were doing. My least favorite teacher was my high school English teacher because she favored kids horribly. If you were not in basketball, track, or a boy she really did not care about you. Her teaching techniques were very random she did what she wanted and when she wanted.
